Requirements for using the Teams Connector

While the Teams Connector makes linking Microsoft Teams and a SIP trunk a breeze, multiple service providers are involved, each with their own requirements. To help you keep track, here are the prerequisites for using the Teams Connector.

Microsoft Teams licenses

Each Microsoft Teams account that is supposed to be able to make calls via the Teams Connector or the linked SIP trunk requires a corresponding Microsoft license in each case.

This license must include not only Microsoft Teams, but also the “Teams Phone” add-on, which is usually subject to an additional fee.

In this table you can see the most common licenses:

BasisVersionTeams Phone
Microsoft 365 BusinessBasic / Standard / Premiumsold separately
Microsoft 365F1 / F3sold separately
Office 365F3sold separately
Microsoft 365 / Office 365E1 / E3sold separately
Microsoft 365 / Office 365E5included

Special licenses exist for government entities, non-profits, and education. Feel free to contact us for more information on those.

One license for initial setup

During the initial setup, a temporary easybell user is created in Microsoft Office. To accomplish this, the associated Microsoft tenant must contain at least one unassigned license. After installation, the account is automatically deleted and the license can be reassigned.

SIP Trunk of a certified provider

To access the public switched telephone network (PSTN), you need a SIP trunk. You can use one from easybell to benefit from our favorable conditions.

Alternatively, the Teams Connector also supports SIP trunks from other providers. We are continuously working to certify additional SIP providers. Thanks to CLIP no screening you could even signal your old number(s) to your customers, but at easybell’s cheap rates.

Currently, you can use SIP trunks from the following providers:

Alternatively, you can use our generic template to enter your SIP access data. This way, almost all SIP trunks worldwide can be integrated.

No parallel use of similar solutions

The Teams Connector can only be billed properly if no other solutions are used with the Microsoft client that connects external SIP trunks to Microsoft Teams.

If you meet all the above requirements, you could start connecting any SIP trunk to Microsoft Teams via the easybell Teams Connector right away.
